We had a nice long weekend, since I had President’s day off. Friday night started out I spent most of the night reloading our main computer. I did something dumb (yes I admit it), and had to reload it. I spent Saturday morning continuing to re-install software and re-configure on my home network. Everything is back in place and working fine now by the way.
Saturday we had Dave (previous co-worker) and his wife over for dinner and games. We had grilled chicken and played catch phrase (don’t care for that game too much). It was a nice time and we all had fun.
Sunday, we had more friends over, food and games again. This time they brought over Pizza (was Westshore pizza and very good!). Then we played catch phrase with them and this time I enjoyed it a little more, they were giving me better words. We (the guys) won big time 3 to 1.
Today (Monday), I took Sarah to school in the Miata which is always fun. Its nice riding with my girl in the car! I spent the day taking care of Liz and Abby and Michael as we are all sick to some degree. I also picked up Sarah from school in the Miata and this was even better this time because I could put the top down. It got to be about 60 something today, so it was just right with the sun shining to ride with the top down. Upon getting to her School, someone behind me backed into another car in car-line. Also when we were leaving her school Mr. Twiggs (short for something else which we don’t really know yet), said something funny. As we were pulling out, there was a minivan ahead of us. The lady in the van stopped to say something to Mr. Twiggs who was directing traffic. (Mr. Twiggs is a young guy). As we drove past, he said “this lady said she has Miata envy). Sarah and I both thought that was funny and laughed about it a bit on our way home.
We then went to WalMart to get a few things. I spent a little more than I should have which is my habbit. We didn’t get home till after 4. I heated up some left over pizza for dinner and we just relaxed most of the day. Hopefully we will all get over our illnesses soon. I have to go back to work tomorrow so I really hope this sinus junk goes away.
Sunday morning Abby woke up early not feeling well. I ended up staying with her most of the day and she did end up getting pretty sick. By afternoon she was feeling a little better, but still didn’t eat much. She must have picked up some kind of stomach bug or something, because this morning she seems much better. Sarah has been sick for the past two days now, she has a cold or something, with a stuffy nose and deep cough. Seems like when you have kids, someone is always sick.
Liz and I just had our 8th Annaversary (technically yesterda). But we celebrated last weekend. We got a free two night stay at a local Inn and went out to dinner. I took Liz to the California Pizza Kitchen in the International Mall. We had some really good Pizza and a nice relaxing time. We only stayed one night at the hotel because the kids were sick and Liz ended up getting sick that first night as well. We did manage to squeeze in some requetball for about 30 minutes or so before returning home. It was a nice 4.5 day holiday weekend for us, so we tried to make the best of it. It was nice to relax, even though things didn’t go quite how we had hoped.
Its that time of year again, cold season. Although not very cold here in Tampa, FL, its still cold season. I picked something up probably from the kids and now I have a cold. I’m hoping it won’t turn into a major deal and run its course quickly. When you have kids, it seems like its hard to go a month without someone being sick.
I HATE SPAM!!! Seriously, not only do I hate spam, but I also hate the product IHateSpam. For the past few months I’ve been having major difficulties with the spam filter at work. Its just one thing after another and support in our situation is not that great. Well a week ago or so, it stopped working all together, so I got permission to install a new spam filter that is an SMTP level filter. Its blocking a great deal of the junk we normally get, but the problem now is that messages are being delayed. IHateSpam seems to be having a problem where incoming SMTP connections are causing the smtpsvc to hang. I can see messages trickle in but mail is not flowing as it should, which is a major problem. I’m still waiting for an engineer to call me back and look at something. But I have been spending every day of my week from morning until evening, and sometimes into the night working on this spam filter. During the day I have to restart the service all day long, then in the evening it runs ok, but slow, and occasionally mail backs up in the queue. I am getting so sick of SPAM filters, I hope we can get this issue resolved soon so I can get back to other projects.
Today is going to be busy. Well actually the whole weekend is going to be hectic. Sarah has a birthday party today for someone at school. Liz is out shopping. I’m watching the girls this morning and trying to clean the house. We were going to try to go to the fair tonight, but its too cold, and there is a storm coming through. We are leaving tomorrow afternoon to go to a birthday party for Liz’s mom. So the whole weekend is already shot. No time for anything. I’ve got so much cleaning to do. Our house was destroyed while we were all sick and we havn’t had time to do any major cleaning.
Finally today, I started to feel like I might be getting better. But it comes and goes, one minute I’ll feel OK, then the next I’ve got gobs of gook draining down my throat. Hacking and coughing and sucking on cough drops all day. I’ve spent more on Robitussin over the last three weeks than on groceries! To make things worse, I am not good at getting stuff up to spit it out. So when I do get something back there it makes me gag and I end up swallowing everything! YUCK!!!
I’m supposed to go bowling tomorrow, and it really sucks to be sick, especially for this long. I hope to get a real doctors appointment soon, but who knows. I just can’t wait to get my voice back, get rid of this night time fever and stop having to take so much liver killing acetaminophen.
